The matrix resurrections will bring back Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity, we’ve known that for some time. What we don’t know is, why now? Well, a returning director Lana Wachowski she now offered a deeply personal idea of why she felt the urge to bring these favorite science fiction characters back to the big screen, and for a reason most will understand: grief.
“My father died, then this friend died, then my mother died. I didn’t really know how to overcome this kind of grief. I hadn’t experienced it so closely … You know, their lives will end, and yet it was still really difficult. My brain always reached for my imagination and one night I cried and I couldn’t sleep, and my brain exploded in this whole story, and I couldn’t have mom and dad, but suddenly I had Neo and Trinity, maybe the two most important the hero in my life. It was immediately comforting to have these two characters alive again and it’s super simple. You can look at it and say, “okay, these two people are dying and okay, bring these two people back to life and oh no “Yes, that’s right! It’s simple, and that’s what art does, and that’s what stories do, they comfort us.”
After the death of his parents, Wachowski managed to use the world of The matrix to achieve something she could not in real life, resurrection. The director eventually decided to bring Neo and Trinity back as a way to achieve some comfort, and no doubt that’s how much it will feel to see the two characters on screen again after all these years.
As posted in the newly released trailer, The Matrix Resurrections is a continuation of the story set in the first The matrix. It brings together Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss as Neo & Trinity cinematic icons in expanding their story, which goes back to the Matrix and even deeper into the rabbit hole. A crushingly new adventure with action and epic scale, it is set in a familiar but even more provocative world, where reality is more subjective than ever and all it takes to see the truth is to free your mind.
The matrix resurrections has assembled a stellar cast alongside Abdul-Matten, Reeves and Moss, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Hanwick, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onvumer, Max Rimelt, Erendira Ibara, Andrew Caldwell, Brian J. Smith, Ellen Holman and Christina Ritchie, who was recently announced to join the long-awaited project. Jada Pinkett Smith and Lambert Wilson are also back and will reprise their respective roles from the previous trilogy.
The fourth movie in The matrix The franchise is a joint production of Village Roadshow Pictures and Venus Castina Productions and is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures theatrically on December 22, 2021. The film will also air digitally on HBO Max’s ad-free level in the United States for a month beginning on the same date. Lana Wachowski made the revelation while speaking at the Berlin International Literary Festival.
